My teaching work includes providing group/society demonstrations and art therapy sessions. I also undertake private commissions (Pet Portraits, Homes or Favourite places) and produce my own collections for Exhibition purpose
TEACHING & LEARNING
Happy returning learners are evidence to me that my teaching style works. Relaxed informal sessions with plenty of tea and coffee. Hands on teaching and clear demonstration of techniques makes painting achievable to all. My only criteria is it has to be FUN, so a smile and a little laughter are most essential. However,for those who like official stuff, I'm a qualified, (CRB checked) experienced Tutor having worked in Further & Adult Learning for a number of years before going self emploed in 2006. In a recent teaching assessment I received a Grade 1 for my Teaching skills. "Grade 1 assessment is a standard reached by very few Adult Learning Tutors. It describes your excellent delivery and is a clear indication of your skills and professionalism. … Your inspirational teaching has the power to change not only lives of your learners but their families, friends and colleagues”… so, it’s nice to have a pat on the back.. ..but I get so much pleasure from teaching you.. it’s easy for me.
ART THERAPY
My learners’ come in all ages & abilities. I often undertake projects in the community. I love getting involved and using my Art influences to help those affected by difficult social, health or family issues. My regular sessions with young people going through rehabilitation for Drug & Alcohol addictions I find very rewarding both for them and me. Sometimes people struggle to get through each day for so many reasons and Art has been proven to really help. It not only keeps the mind and hands busy, it builds confidence and self esteem… it's Fantastic to know that my Art sessions may be just the thing to turn lives around.
Painting is very therapeutic and everyone can learn...All you need is the desire and time to practice. I believe that it's not what you get out of out of this in the way of a product, but more about the pleasure you get from expressing yourself and taking part, that is most important.
